Sassie’s Chicken opens in Brockport village

Pending a site visit and final approval, Sassie’s Chicken is ready to roost in downtown Brockport.

The application from Frank Herman, and his family, to operate the family owned and operated business at 55 North Main Street was presented to the Village of Brockport planning board at a special meeting February 25.

"We plan to open Friday," Herman said. "We’ve been working real hard and have done everything that Scott (Zarnstorff, code enforcement officer) has asked."

Herman, his parents and his wife, have operated the restaurant from Brockport Spencerport Road but are relocating to the downtown area to take advantage of better parking and a more high traffic area, they said.

The primarily take-out business offers chicken dinners, with sides, and will be able to accommodate about 50 people in their new site, they said. "We don’t serve alcohol and it’s just a great place to come for dinner," Herman said.

Planning board member John Brugger requested floor plans from the Hermans before he could make a determination on approving the application.

"The floor plans just take the idea from the abstract to the tangible," he said. "We need to know what we are approving."

Herman presented, and explained his floor plans to board members and a site visit was scheduled for February 27 following the installation of the booths.

The board granted a conditional approval to the opening of Sassie’s Chicken pending the site visit.
