Spencerport's Coaches vs. Cancer
Program donates record amount

The Spencerport boys' basketball program donated a record $11,300 to the American Cancer Society through the Coaches vs. Cancer program. This donation is well over last year's record of $6,000. The total donated to the ACS over the past five years is $27,300.

The CvC program raises money through Spencerport's Coaches vs. Cancer Christmas Classic basketball tournament at Nazareth College and an annual pancake breakfast. Varsity basketball coach Mike Blackwell and the boys' varsity team presented the check to the ACS in a pre-game ceremony on February 6 at the Churchville-Chili vs. Spencerport boys basketball game.

The donation was made in memory of Diana Przybycien, a former Spencerport High School English teacher who lost her battle with cancer last year. Her husband, former Cosgrove principal Ed Przybycien, took part in the check presentation ceremony.

The Coaches vs Cancer tournament is organized and administered entirely by the Spencerport boys' basketball coach, Michael Blackwell, Ranger players and coaching staff as part of its on-going volunteer community service commitment to the Spencerport Student-Athlete Care Program.
