Cub Scouts honored at Blue and Gold Dinner

Cub Scout Pack 292, chartered by the Lions Club of Chili, held its Blue and Gold Dinner on Friday, February 8 at the Italian-American Community Center on Manitou Road in Gates. The Blue and Gold Dinner is an annual event honoring cub scouts who have achieved their next level of rank within the Cub Scout Organization.

This year, seven scouts have finished their Cub Scout training and have received the Arrow of Light award. The Arrow of Light is the highest honor in Cub Scouts and is awarded only after completing all requirements of the Webelos 2 level of scouting. The award displays an American Indian sign for the sum, which symbolizes the scout's commitment to do his best each day of the week. These scouts now can cross over into the next higher level of scouting, the Boy Scouts.

The following Webelos 2 scouts have received the Arrow of Light award: Daniel Brewer, Alex Clarke, Patrick Coyle, Brandon Crego, Randall Krouth, Joshua Mason, David Phelps.

In addition, 44 scouts received their new rank badges at three different levels of rank, Wolfs, Bears, and Webelos. To achieve the next level of rank, a scout needs to accomplish up to twenty unique achievements. These achievements are educational goals in specific subjects including topics on our country, family, religion, and personal growth. The following scouts received their badges:

  • Wolfs: Michael Greenblatt, Alexander Hanzlik, Derrick Hauck, Philip Lupia, Travis Munding, Anthony Pantane, Matthew Memelo, Shawn Murtha, Aaron Neu, Zack Sherman, Tom Timmons, Anthony Torcello, Dan Viggiani, Colin Whitcomb.
  • Bears: Alex Bischoping, Zack Bischoping, Michael Bodziak, Evan Clarke, Jason Dey, Brian Dicesare, Nick Dudkiewicz, Andrew Lawrence, Adam Ludwicki, Owen Malinowski, Jon Mosburger, Alex Oliver, Erik Stewart.

The Blue and Gold Dinner is part of Pack 292's 2001-2002 scout program for Chili area youths.
