Sanctions against Brockport Village Trustee Peter DeToy have been lifted. Supreme Court Justice Harold Galloway ruled in favor of DeToy.

As a result of a resolution passed December 17 by the village board that barred him from having any contact with any village employee as long as he remains on the board, DeToy began proceedings to sue the village and the village board.

The resolution, passed by the board, stemmed from incidents that occurred in October and December in which DeToy allegedly made threatening remarks to an emergency services dispatcher.

Mayor Josephine Matela said the board will continue the investigation into DeToy’s conduct. They have retained criminal defense lawyer John Parrinello. They are seeking DeToy’s removal from office.

"I respect Judge Galloway’s decision," Matela said. "But I feel that the board and I acted in the right way considering the circumstances… if I had it to do over again, I would have still acted in the same way."

DeToy declined to comment on the ruling.
