win at Niagara Cup

Bright Raven Gymnastics attended the 2002 Niagara Cup at the University of Buffalo Alumni Arena March 8-10. Many of the Bright Raven gymnasts earned top honors.

In Level 5 competition for gymnasts age 12 and over, Amber Kober of Ogden captured first place all around (36.425) and also finished first on the uneven bars (9.40), first in floor exercise (9.425), second in vault (8.70) and fifth on balance beam (8.90). In the same division, Kelly MacCracken of Greece was the third place all around winner (34.925) and also took second on the balance beam (8.975), third in floor exercise (9.35) and fifth place in vault (8.50). Lindsey Paladino of Chili placed fifth on floor (9.15) and sixth on bars (8.35). In the 6-8 age division, Rachel Eckert of Irondequoit placed sixth in two events: uneven parallel bars (8.25) and floor exercise (8.90). In the 9-11 age division, Alyssa Kober took fourth place on beam (9.10).

In Level 4 competition for gymnasts 12 and over, Cassie Dean of Churchville was first on beam (9.325), second on floor (9.40), and third on bars (8.70). Her high all around score of 36.225 was good for second place. Emily Gutcknecht of Rochester finished third all around (36.175) and also earned third place in floor exercise (9.35), fourth on bars (8.55) and sixth on beam (9.10). Kristina Wolf of Hilton earned fourth place all around (36.075) and took third on balance beam (9.20) and vault (9.20) and sixth on bars (8.45). Ashley Miles of North Greece took fifth place all around (35.825) and was second on the uneven bars (8.80) and sixth in vault (9.20). Natalia Filip of Gates was fourth on beam (9.175).

Amanda Westcott of Brockport competed as a Level 6 gymnast in the 12 and over age group and won first place in floor exercise (9.25) and second place on the uneven bars (8.95). Julie Mingoea of Spencerport placed fifth in vault (9.05) and Jaclyn Miller of Henrietta was fifth on beam (8.875). Megan Seuffert of Gates placed fourth on beam (9.075) in the 10-11 age group.

Competing as a Level 8 in the 14 and over age division, Tracy Apeland of Chili took first place on beam (9.325), second place on the uneven bars (8.875) and third place all around (35.275). In the same division, Brianna D'Errico of Byron was first in floor exercise (9.475), fifth place on bars (8.65) and sixth all around (34.975). Ashely Roberts of Kent took fourth place on beam (9.175).
