pipe and drum parade in New York City

Members of the Rochester Scottish Pipe Band will join pipers and drummers from nearly every corner of the world as they take part in the largest pipe band and display of kilts ever, when they gather in New York City on April 6 to march in Scottish Power Tunes of Glory (www.pipefest.com). To date, more than 7,000 pipers are registered from 48 states and 25 countries, with a goal of 10,000 marchers expected to participate in the record-breaking event.

Scottish Power, one of the world's 15 largest utilities operating in six western U.S. states as Pacific Power and Utah Power, is the title sponsor and Visit Scotland, Scotland's national tourism agency, is co-sponsor of the pipe parade which will span 36 city blocks up Sixth Avenue to Central Park and benefit cancer organizations on both sides of the Atlantic: U.S.-based Gilda's Club Worldwide and the Scottish branch of UK-based Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Local members of the Rochester Scottish Pipe Band include Troy Capone, Les Carr, Harold Markham, Adam Tianello and Jim VanBrederode of Spencerport; David Shaw of Chili; Stephen Wolak of Brockport; and Glenn Watts of North Chili.

The Rochester Scottish Pipe Band, will participate in Scottish Power Tunes of Glory to be held on National Tartan Day, April 6, in New York City. This event will bring 10,000 pipers and drummers from all over the world to New York City to benefit Gilda's Club and Marie Curie Cancer Care.
