Workshops offered for girls exploring engineering

Monroe Community College's Cool Workshops for Girls Exploring Engineering, April 18, 19 and 20, will encourage high school girls to try their hands at building robots and constructing bridges.

The workshops, held in building 9 at MCC's Brighton Campus, 1000 East Henrietta Road, are designed to inform young women about the engineering field, one traditionally populated by males.

The workshops will be a hands-on experience. Students will build small robots and program them to navigate a pre-designed maze, and they will use computer software to design and build tabletop bridges to withstand increasing amounts of weight.
