BISCO Brockport Arts Festival to collaborate with Lakeside on Duck Derby

Under the leadership of Michael Murphy, president of the Brockport Integrated Services Community Organization (BISCO), planning has begun for the 2002 Annual Brockport Summer Arts Festival which will take place on August 10 and 11 in the Village of Brockport.

BISCO is a cooperative alliance of the Brockport Rotary, Elks, Kiwanis, Lions Club and the Fire Department. Dollars raised by the Arts Festival is just one example of how BISCO provides leadership to unite organizational and individual resources to enhance the quality of community life. The Arts Festival attracts more than 120,000 people each year, and is a welcome summer event attended by people across the region.

An entertaining and much anticipated part of the Arts Festival planned for August 11 is the Annual Duck Derby that takes place on the Erie Canal. In the past, the Lifetime Assistance Foundation co-sponsored and shared in the dollars raised by the Duck Derby with BISCO. However, this year they will be putting their efforts into other fundraising priorities. In their place, Lakeside Foundation, the fundraising corporation of Lakeside Health System, is the new Duck Derby partner.

George Dahl, chair of the Duck Derby Planning Committee reports, "We have enjoyed our initial planning experiences with Lakeside and we look forward to working with them. They have a long history of successful fundraising as well as events management, and I know will bring many new resources to this effort." Lakeside plans to dedicate their share of dollars raised to the Lakeside "Building for the Next Generation" Capital Campaign which has raised more than 87 percent of its $3 million goal. BISCO will dedicate their resources to facilities and services that benefit the community at large.
