Nature lectures at Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge

Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) in Alabama and Shelby announced their schedule from nature programs to be held at the refuge during the month of April. This series of "Focus on…" programs, presented in partnership with the Buffalo Chapter of the Audubon Society, will be offered each Saturday at 2 p.m. at the refuge headquarters at 1101 Casey Road in Alabama. All programs are free and no reservations are required.

April 13 - Focus on Owls and Owl Rehabilitation - presented by Wendi Pencille. Pencille is the director of Bless the Beasts Foundation, a wildlife rehabilitation center in Shelby, New York. She has been a wildlife rehabilitator for 13 years, specializing in raptors and waterfowl.

April 20 - Focus on Bluebirds - presented by Carl Zenger. Zenger is a member of the New York Bluebird Society and a volunteer at the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge. Among his contributions to the refuge, Zenger maintains the bluebird trail on the refuge which includes monitoring the nest boxes along the trail to track nesting success.

There will be no lecture on April 27, which is the date for the refuge's annual open house - Celebrate Wildlife.
