Eighteen Holley Elementary Band students, under the direction of Miss Amy Harris, recently participated in the Orleans County Music Educator's Music Festival. "The festival is very positive in that it provides a significant, challenging and rewarding musical experience for our students," said Harris.

Students were selected based on positive attitude, good musicianship and responsibility. They rehearsed for two days with a guest conductor, then performed in a concert with other students from around the county. The Holley students who participated are: Kelsie Hendry, Heidi Johnson, Devon Jedamski, Justin Shenck, Janelle Hoover, Jennifer Hettel, Kelsey Hughson, Nicole Wing, Traci Smith, Karen Beatty, Nickole Henick, Heather Rowley, Derek Kohmann, Jenna Lebeck, Suzanne Chilson, Joey Laudico, Joshua Mitchell and David Phillips.

Earlier in March, a group of Holley Elementary Band students participated in the Orleans County Music Educator's Solo Festival. For this event, each student prepared a piece of music, then performed it for a trained adjudicator, who gave the student a rating and constructive comments about the performance. Students were also evaluated on scales and sight-reading. Out of the 10 Holley Elementary students participating, nine scores of outstanding and one score of excellent were received.
