Environmentally-friendly
lawn care workshop offered in Ogden

The Ogden Farmers' Library, 269 Ogden Center Road, Spencerport, in cooperation with Cornell Cooperative Extension, is hosting a free workshop on Thursday, May 9, at 7 p.m. in the library meeting room.

Although September is the best time to fertilize your lawn, early spring is a good time to learn more about the art of Integrated Pest Management, the importance of soil testing, and other cost effective ways to a thick healthy lawn.

If properly maintained, a lawn could be naturally resistant to weeds and harmful insects over time and, by making small adjustments to lawn care practices, homeowners can make a big difference in the quality of the water in lakes, ponds, rivers and streams.

The Great Lawns/Great Lakes Program is a joint effort of the Monroe County Health Department and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County and is made possible through the generous support of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Water Education Collaborative, and the NYS Integrated Pest Management Program. To register for the workshop or for information, call the library at 352-2141.
