Hilton Lion receives state honor

Lion Jim Allardice of the Hilton Lions Club will receive the 2002 Past District Governors' Leadership Award at the Opening Ceremony of the State Lions Convention, May 3 through 5 in Binghamton. Allardice was selected from among 1,800 Lions club members in the seven county district in western New York. Eleven other Lions will also receive the honor, representing eleven other districts from across the state.

Allardice has been a member of the Hilton Lions Club for 24 years. He has served as Tail Twister, 3rd Vice President, Secretary, Director, President and then Treasurer for the past twelve years. He has co-chaired the following club committees and/or activities for the Hilton Lions Club: carnival, bulletin and public relations, constitution and by-laws, youth exchange, youth floor hockey, Christmas baskets, song leader, state convention Lions store, tee ball commissioner, membership and attendance, new member retention, parade, tee ball head umpire, District Governor election and Apple Fest food booth. Members of the Lions Club say he always has a story or joke to share at the dinner meetings and promotes fellowship at all events.

Two other Hilton Lions Club members, Jim Schiebel and Bill Manley, have both received the recognition in previous years.

The Hilton Lions Club has also just installed two new members, Steven Frisbee and George Doles, into their service club. For membership information, contact Chairman Jim Schiebel at 964-3619.
