A conference held on the campus of SUNY Brockport last month brought together more than 300 students from 31 area schools in a five-county area for the second-annual Think About Teaching Conference. The all-day conference was open to all students, though the goal was to encourage students who are underrepresented in the educational field to consider careers in education.

The conference featured nationally known guest speaker Dr. Crystal Arlene Kuykendall, Esq., who inspired students with her strategies for success.

The day also featured two break-out sessions, where students chose from 14 topics including Preparing for College, College Survival Skills, and Alternative Careers in Education; a college fair with admissions representatives from 25 regional colleges; a book fair; and tour of the SUNY Brockport campus.

The conference is the result of a collaboration among several schools and agencies.
