Local archers compete at Archery Competition

The New York State Indoor Archery Competition proved successful for youths and adults from Creekwood Archery, again this year. A local delegation of 20 shooters captured medals and trophies representing the many hours of practice prior to the tournament at the Seneca Falls Chiropractic College.

Five local shooters, Greg and Ben Smalley of Hilton, Diana and Dave Simone of Greece, and Don Brongo of Spencerport, traveled to Kansas City, Missouri to shoot the NFAA Indoor National Championship, April 6 and 7. Diana placed second in the nation in her class, and Ben and Greg both placed 10th in their shooting class. Don Brongo placed 12th nationally as a finger shooter. Individuals shoot in classes by age and equipment style.

Creekwood Archery hosts a 14-week youth program to prepare the new shooters for the competition.

Archery is a sport for all ages. Some archers only shoot competition and enjoy the rewards of the X in the middle of the bull's eye targets. Archery requires mental concentration, focus and self-discipline, and is being enjoyed as a family sport.
