AREA

•Bush, Captain Vernon R., USN (ret) on April 20, 2002. Graduate, Spencerport Class 1950.

He is survived by a son, Vernon R. Bush, Jr.; a daughter, Leslie Anne Corpuz and her husband, Constant S. Corpuz, all of Chesapeake.

Captain Bush graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1956. His distinguished career was culminated by command of the USS Spiegel Grove. Com-mand of the Spiegel Grove was highlighted by the evacuation of 300 civilian refugees who were stranded in war-torn Beirut, Lebanon. The episode generated world wide media attention

His personal decorations include four Meritorius Service Medals, the Joint Service Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal.

He was an activist right up until his death working on trying to retain the quality of education of the U.S. Naval Academy.

A Memorial Service was held April 23 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Chesapeake. Interment will be at the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis.


•Sedita, James J., Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Rochester, April 19, 2002. Predeceased by his wife, Frances (Volpe). Survived by his wife, June. Loving father of James F., David (Paula), Michael (Becky), Karyn (Kevin) Freidt, John, Paul (Deborah) and Matthew (Karen); 16 grandchildren; sister, Katherine Mancuso; brother, Michael; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jim retired from GM (RPD) as a senior financial analyst.

A Memorial Service was held May 1 at St. Christopher's Church, where Jim was a founding member. Interment in Atlanta, Georgia. Memorials can be directed to the American Cancer Society, 1400 South Winton Road 14609.


BROCKPORT

•Christ, L. Jean, on April 27, 2002 at the age of 77. She was predeceased by her husband, Boris in 1993. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Charles) Dawley of North Carolina, Barbara (Robert) Ballard of West Virginia and son, Robert (Linda) Christ; grandchildren Benjamin (Shauna) Dawley, Emily Ballard, Amanda and McKenna Christ; great grandchildren, Andrew and Katlyn Dawley; sisters, Shirley (Harold) Knight and Nancy (Richard) Reynolds; sisters-in-law, Alice Yare and Helen Lagapia; several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service was held May 2 at Garland United Methodist Church. Interment Garland Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Garland United Methodist Church in her memory.


•Post, Marjorie D., Peacefully on April 24, 2002 at 68 years of age. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years Donald "Barefoot" Post; her son, Donald; her sister, Charlotte Travato; her sister-in-law, Elise Wyand; sister-in-law, Betty (Howard) Appell; and brother-in-law, Jerry (Joyce) Post; also many nieces, nephews and close friends.

A Funeral Service celebrating her life was held April 27 at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., Hilton. Interment, Falls Cemetery.


•Samperi, Mary, April 27, 2002 at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank. Survived by her children, John (Brigitte) Samperi and Agatha Samperi; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one niece and four nephews.

A Funeral Mass was said May 1 at the Church of the Nativity B.V.M., Brockport. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.


CHILI

•Madigan, Janice M. (Palumbo), Age 45, Thursday, April 25, 2002. Predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Mary Palumbo. She is survived by her husband, James; three children, Justin (age 17), Mandy (age 15), David (age 11); brother, Joseph (Debby) and sister, Marilyn Palumbo; several nieces and nephews. Jan was a loving wife and mother, who served the Lord faithfully. She devoted her life to God, her family, her teaching and was an accomplished artist.

A Funeral Service was held April 29 at New Life Victory Center, 1619 Manitou Road. Interment, Grove Place Cemetery.


CHURCHVILLE

•Baylor, Michael Scott, Age 44, of Churchville, died in a fire at his home on Monday, April 22, 2002. Surviving are his father, Don and Michael's stepmother, Janet, of Muncy; his mother, Nancy Hawley of Muncy; the for-mer, Cindy Ferrari of Rochester, to whom Michael had previously been married; his maternal grandmother, Hannah Fenastermaker of Lairdsville; a brother, Dr. Richard D. Baylor of Coopersburg; two sisters, Tina Baylor of Muncy and Kim Ovelman of Dansville; a half sister, Linda Butler of Muncy; two step sisters, Jacqueline Woolcock of Dansville and Jayne Fraley, Indiana, Pennsylvania. Predeceased by his brother, Donald A. Baylor Jr. Mike was employed at Eastman Kodak. He had earned his pilot's license and had en-joyed flying.

A Memorial Service was held April 30 at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville, Pennsylvania. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.


•Boddy, Jeffrey M., at age 34, on April 17, 2002. He is survived by his former wife, Karen O'Neill; his son, Weston Boddy; his father and mother, Laurence and Jacqueline Boddy, sister and brother-in-law, Alicia and William McKee; two nephews, Austin and Cameron McKee..

A Memorial Service was held April 27 at the Alhart Funeral Home, Caledonia. Private Interment. Memorials can be made to The Boy Scouts of America, Otetiana Council, 474 East Avenue, Rochester, 14610 in his memory.


CLARENDON

•Root, Hazel M., 91, April 30, 2002 at the Lakeside-Beikirch Care Center in Brockport. She was the daughter of the late Grant (Gertrude Kase) Orcutt. She was born in Clarendon in October 1910 and resided in the area her entire lifetime.

She retired in the early 1970s from the Churchville-Chili School District where she taught kindergarten for 13 years. She was a member of the Home Bureau, The National Grange, Disciples United Methodist Church and the Disciples United Methodist Women's Society, and the New York Retired Teachers Association.

Her husband of 71 years, William C. Root of Clarendon, and their son, Royce C. (Karen) Root of Brockport survive her. Also surviving are three grandchildren; Joyce (William) Curtis of Jacksonville, Florida; Pamela (Arthur) Knab of Albion; Denise (Steve) Ruf of Brockport; three great grandchildren, several step great grandchildren; a niece, Cheryl (Russell) Maxon of Albion and many more nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service was held May 4 at Disciples United Methodist Church. Interment at Hillside Cemetery. Memorial remembrances can be made to the Disciples United Methodist Church.


HILTON

•Judd, Duane, Peacefully on April 26, 2002 at 88 years. He is predeceased by his wife, Jessica Judd (1986); his son, Ernest (Rusty) Judd (2000). He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (David) Wegman; daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Judd; his grandchildren, Daniel (Jill), Andrew (Jeanne), Jonathan and Michael (Jodie) Wegman, Kenneth and Thomas Judd; his great grand-children, Jessica, David, Justin and Drew Wegman; several close friends.

A Funeral Service celebrating his life was held April 30 at the First Bible Baptist Church, Rochester. Memorial contributions can be made to First Bible Baptist Church in his memory.


•VanLare, John "Jack" H., Peacefully on April 28, 2002 at age 73 with the love and support of his family. He is predeceased by his brother, Thomas R. VanLare. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Nina VanLare; his children, Pamela J. (Steve) Speer and Erik W. VanLare; his grandchildren, Amy E. (John Grande) Speer and Gregory W. (Tina) Speer; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth (Phyllis) VanLare and Earl VanLare; sister-in-law, Marion VanLare; nieces, nephews and many friends in the Hilton community; special friend Glen Comstock.

He was a retiree of Eastman Kodak Co., after 38 years of service. Also, a 50 year member of the Masons, E. Rochester Ancient Craft #163 Lodge.

A Memorial Service celebrating his life was held May 2 at the Hilton United Methodist Church, Hilton. A private interment at Parma Union Cemetery. NORTH CHILI

•Dupra, Francis H. Sr., Monday, April 29, 2002 at age 78. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth. He is survived by his sons, Frank Jr., Wayne and Allen (Peg) Dupra; his grandchildren Andre, Tammy, Trish, Nathan (Shinok) and Deanna; his great grandchildren Brittany, Austin, Hannah, Alyssa and Joshua; brothers Noel (Ruth), Lyell (Theresa), Earl (Barbara) and Loren (Barbara); his sister Alice Egan; several nieces and nephews. He was an Army Combat Engineer during WWII and was a mem-ber of Chili Memorial VFW Post #412.

A Memorial Mass was said May 2 at St. Christopher's Church, North Chili. Contributions can be made to Chili Memorial VFW Post #412, 412 Ballantyne Road, Rochester, NY 14623 in his memory.


•Martin, Gregory B., April 27, 2002. Age 87. Retiree of Eastman Kodak Co. after 35 years. Served in WWII with 209th Coastal Artillery's Band. Married 57 years to his beloved wife, Mary Burt Martin; father of James Martin of Hilton and Melinda (William) Smith of Mendon; brother of the late Wilbur Martin; grandfather of Kristin Smith and Heather Smith, both of Mendon; and uncle of several.

Services were held May 4 at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, Bergen. Memorials to First Presbyterian Church of Bergen or the WWII Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. in his memory.


SPENCERPORT

•Edwards, Mark S., Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at age 37. He was predeceased by his father Rev. Ernest E. Edwards. He is survived by his children Matthew and Sarah; his mother Priscilla; his brothers Jonathan (Linda), Daniel (Amy) and Philp (Marcia); his sister Lois (Douglas) Olena; his faithful friend Dawn Tracy; several nieces and nephews.

•Kellerson, Joseph P., Saturday, April 27, 2002 at age 85. He was predeceased in 1999 by his wife of 51 years, Clara (Crimmens) Kellerson. He is survived by his children, John Kellerson (Marie Kimmerly), Mary (Robert) Murtagh of Hilton and Dale (Vickie) Kellerson; five grandchildren, Ann Marie (Jason) Fite, James Murtagh, Cory, Jeffery and Rebecca Kellerson; his sister, Teresa K. Murray of Rochester. He was retiree of Eastman Kodak Company and was a member of Ferris Goodridge American Legion Post #330.

•Lemcke, Florence A., Peacefully on April 26, 2002 at age 79 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Luther Lemcke; her daughters, Dolores (Thomas) Indovino and Diane (David) Schepler; her grandchildren, Darrell and Michael Indovino, Christine (Michael) Montecalvo, Vicki (Tom) Bordonaro, Sharon (Brian) Field and Jill Fitzgerald; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Bertha (Edward) Lemcke of Alabama, Dorothy Barret and Loretta White of Florida; special sister, Reta (Donald) Lage; brothers-in-law, Norman (Shirley) Lemcke and Martin (Evelyn) Spink; sister-in-law, Veda Lemcke of Florida and many nieces and nephews.

•Reid, James H., Thursday, April 25, 2002 at age 66. He was predeceased in 1973 by his son, David. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Shelby P. Reid; four daughters, Stephanie Ball, Lorrie (Jim) Brown, Sheila (Ralph) Galdieri and Donna Reid; three sons, Peter (Erica) Reid, Michael (Karen) Reid and Paul Reid; two sisters Betty Burch and Gertrude Thomas; his brother, John Reid; 18 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was a retiree of Rochester Products.

•Sachs, Edna M., Friday, April 26, 2002. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl H. Sachs Jr. She is survived by two daughters, Carlynn (Bill) Gebhardt of Spencerport and Diane (Robert) Heldorfer of Florida; two grandsons, Mark (Jessica) Gebhardt and Matt Gebhardt; two great grandsons Ben and Will Gebhardt; nieces and nephews.
