No tax rate increase in Holley

Tax rates will remain the same for Village of Holley residents under the 2002-2003 budget that was adopted April 16.

While tax rates will remain stable at $14.03 per $1,000 of assessed valuation, some residents will notice increases in their tax bill because of the increased property assessments. The average property value in Holley is $60,000 and that would result in a tax bill of $841.80.

The village has total appropriations of $1,492,962; revenues of $758,800 and must raise $639,452 through taxes.

Mayor Daniel Schiavone, who was sworn in at the meeting, said that since he didn’t officially take office until April 1 he didn’t have much to do with the budget’s compilation. "I’m happy we didn’t have to raise taxes and I hope we can continue to hold the line in spending," he said.

Trustee Peter Dreher was chosen by Schiavone as deputy mayor at the village’s reorganizational meeting.
