Latta Road Nursing Home
hosts Armed Forces Day celebration

The Latta Road and Hamilton Manor Nursing Homes are hosting an Open House/Armed Forces Day celebration, Saturday, May 18. The event will run from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and will be held at the Latta Road Nursing Home, 2100 Latta Road in Greece.

The celebration is in recognition of two significant events occurring in the month of May: National Nursing Home Week (May 12-18) and Armed Forces Day (May 18).

"We chose to combine the two events for many reasons," said Assistant Administrator Dan Richardson. "First and foremost, nursing homes are about life and what better time to highlight that fact than during National Nursing Home Week?"

"The Armed Forces Day celebration provides us with the opportunity to honor those residents and family members who served in the armed forces and given the events of September 11, this year makes that service and sacrifice more poignant."

The public is invited to tour the facilities during the open house. Free blood pressure screening and glucose testing will also be offered.

Latta Road Nursing Home will also be honoring veterans throughout the week with the celebration culminating on Saturday, May 18. The Greece American Legion Post 468 and the Greece Veterans of Foreign War Post 1151 will present the nursing home with a flag and uniformed buglers will play patriotic music. The Greece Historical Society and the above mentioned veterans groups are loaning military uniforms and other memorabilia for display purposes.

The flag presentation will be held at 2:30 p.m. and light beverages will be provided. For information on the celebration, contact Latta Road Nursing Home Activities Director Debby Berry at (585) 225-0910, extension 313. Reservations are preferred for those planning to attend.
