American Legion officers elected; May activities scheduled

The officers of Hiscock-Fishbaugh American Legion Post 788 of Hilton elected for 2002-2003 are as follows: Commander Bert Marlatt, 1st Vice Commander Dave Harris, Adjutant Al Howe, Finance Officer John Barclay, Service Officer Bob Hall, Chaplain Dave Goodrich, Sergeant-At-Arms Brayton Miles. They will take over their duties at the June meeting.

The American Legion and the VFW of Parma will be out in force in the Village of Hilton May 24 and 25 with their yearly effort to help veterans in hospitals by giving out poppies that the veterans have made. The donations from this project go to the veterans who made them. At the same time at the Hilton Big M, the public may drop off unserviceable American flags. The flags will be taken care of in a dignified disposal service in June.

The Memorial Day parade will be May 27 and will start at the Hilton High School on East Avenue, Hilton at 10 a.m. The parade route will be through the village from the high school westerly through Main Street and end at the new Veterans' Memorial at Henry Street.
