The Greater Rochester Robotics (GRR) team 340 of Churchville-Chili Senior High School competed at the National FIRST Robotics competition in Orlando, Florida. Nearly 300 teams, some from as far away as Brazil and Britain, competed at the event. Churchville-Chili made it into the semi-finals, where they placed sixteenth overall. This event marked the end of the 2002 season. However, planning has already begun for next year.

GRR is composed of over forty individuals with diverse backgrounds and interests. The team represents an excited body of students, and a talented core of engineering personnel, teachers, parents, design specialists, animation specialists, and marketing professionals. With this outlet of creativity, minds are brought together in the ultimate expression of intellectual collaboration. Through heated discussions and endless compromise, the members of GRR unite for a common goal: to create a competitive robot that can complete an assigned task.

FIRST - For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology - is an international engineering competition developed each year by the non-profit FIRST organization to inspire students to prepare for and pursue math, science and technology related careers.
