Adam Staskiewicz, of Churchville, is graduating May 30 from Monroe Community College with an associate's degree in liberal arts. He is the husband of Jennifer and the son of Steve and Joanne Staskiewicz.

Staskiewicz is a 1999 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School.


Katherine Siracusa of Brockport, has graduated from D'Youville College. She is the daughter of Marianne and Steve Siracusa.


Brian Perrotta was inducted into the National and International Honor Societies at Siena College. Perrotta, of Rochester, was inducted into the 21st Century Leaders Society.


Emily Ugino, daughter of Richard and Joan Ugino of Hilton, earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science, magna cum laude, from Saint Michael's College. She attended Our Lady of Mercy High School before entering Saint Michael's.


Melissa Jewell of Holley, a graduate of Holley High School and a transfer from Monroe Community College, has been accepted for the fall 2002 semester at the SUNY College at Brockport. She tentatively plans to major in business administration. She is the daughter of Charles and LuAnne Jewell and holds an associate's degree in business management.


Tiffany Jewell, of Holley and a graduate of Holley High School, has been accepted for the fall 2002 semester at the SUNY College at Brockport. She tentatively plans to major in business administration. She is the daughter of Charles and LuAnne Jewell.


Russ Dimino, of Cambridge Road, Hilton, has been named to the dean's list for the fall and winter quarters at Rochester Institute of Technology.

A second-year student in the School of Film and Animation, Dimino is studying filmmaking. He is the son of Frank and Linda Dimino of Hilton and a 2000 graduate of Hilton Central High School.


The following area residents were recently inducted into the Syracuse University chapter of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

•Nicole Dean, Ellis Drive, Brockport. Dean is a junior majoring in biology in the College of Arts and Sciences.

•Erin Rich, Churchville. Rich is a junior majoring in Spanish language, literature and culture in the College of Arts and Sciences.

•Natalie Jones of Forest Meadow Trail, Rochester. Jones is a senior majoring in music education in the College of Visual and Performing Arts.


The following students enrolled in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University were among the academic degree candidates honored at the University's 148th commencement ceremony held May 12 in the University's Carrier Dome. Approximately 4,800 degree candidates along with their families and friends attended the ceremony presided over by Chancellor Kenneth A. Shaw.

•Haverly Erskine, Maier Circle, Spencerport. Erskine received a bachelor of science degree in public relations.

•Betty Alvarez, Westmar Drive, Rochester. Alvarez received a bachelor of science degree in graphic art.


Mary Snyder, of Lawrence Road, Brockport, received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University during commencement ceremonies held May 12.


Captain Catherine Carter Christy was promoted in the USAF. The daughter of Jan and Donna Carter of Brockport, she graduated from Brockport High School in 1992 and SUNY Brockport in 1997 as a registered nurse. In 1998, she joined the Air Force and is now stationed at McGuire AFB, New Jersey.


Marine Corps Sgt. Michael A. Voegel, son of Katie M. Voegel of Teaberry Drive, Spencerport, participated in exercise Infinite Anvil in the Hashimite Kingdom of Jordan while assigned to the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, based in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Marines from Voegel's unit had the opportunity to train with the Royal Jordanian Air Force during the 10-day event. The exercise included the movement of the AV-8B Harrier detachment and the MEU's aviation element from the USS Wasp to King Faisal Royal Jordanian Air Force Base.

After the exercise, Voegel's unit visited Petra, Jordan where Marines had the opportunity to shop, sightsee and enjoy the local culture and cuisine.

Voegel is a 1994 graduate of Mynderse Academy of Seneca Falls, NY and joined the Marine Corps in October 1994.
