Budgets pass in Bergen, Brockport, Holley and Kendall

Voters in most school districts turned out and gave their approval for the budgets presented to them by their respective school officials.

In Brockport, the proposed budget of $52,960,741 was approved by voters by a margin of 1,189 to 472. The district had been faced with a deficit in state aid that prompted budget cuts that were begun last August.

Arthur Gary Zimmer was reelected to his board position by garnering 1,089 votes. Robert Iveson also received the nod with 1,252 votes. Terry Wolfe was defeated and received 524 votes.

Residents also voted in favor of the school bus purchase proposition by a margin of 1058 to 558.

In Bergen, the proposed budget of $15.3 million passed by a margin of 240 votes with 456 residents voting yes while 216 opposed the proposal.

Sharon Bidwell and Ernest Haywood received 464 and 419 votes respectively and were elected to the board. Donald Liles pulled in 305 ballots.

Bergen voters cast their votes in favor of a school bus proposition with a vote of 456 for and 203 against.

Holley voters turned out in favor of their $14.8 million budget with a vote of 366 for and 245 against.

Kimberly Thomas received 414 votes in her bid for a board seat. Also elected were: Eric Spencer, 405; Beth Skehan, 352, Norman Knight, 378 and Lynn Beatty, 411. Incumbent Albert Buell was defeated and received 313 votes.

Also on Holley's ballot was a proposition to add $76,433 to the Holley Community Free Library's budget and it passed with a vote of 373 for and 229 against.

In Kendall, William Ottman was elected to the school board. He garnered 518 votes. Residents approved the proposed $12.9 million budget by a margin of 397 for and 281 against.
