Third Presbyterian Church presents Choral Evensong

The Chancel Choir of Third Presbyterian Church will present a traditional Service of Choral Evensong on Sunday, June 23, at 4 p.m. Evensong will be followed by High Tea in Johnston Hall.

The choir will welcome as a special guest, Canon Jonathan Meyrick from Rochester Cathedral in Rochester, Kent, Great Britain, where the choir spent a week as Choir-in-Residence during the summer of 2001.

The service of Evensong itself is a centuries-old service, weaving prayers, scripture readings, psalms and anthems into a beautiful liturgy of quiet devotion.

The Choral Evensong on June 23 offers the community a chance to share in a musical service. The service begins at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary of Third Presbyterian Church, located on the corner of East Avenue and Meigs Street in Rochester. The event is free and open to public. More information about the church and its programs may be found on the church's website www.thirdpresbyterian.org/music.
