GCC to host summer Performing Arts Festival

The Genesee Community College Association, Inc., in cooperation with the Fine Arts Committee, present the "Patchwork Summer Performing Arts Festival" on June 29 at Genesee Community College. This day-long event features local crafts people and food vendors with performances by various musical and performing artists.

Admission to the festival is $12 for adults and $6 for students and seniors as well as Genesee students with a valid ID. The festival begins at 12 p.m. and will continue until 9 p.m. Vendors will be located outside the college near the clock tower and in the cafeteria. Performers are scheduled to appear in the Stuart Steiner Theatre and the College Forum.

Performances begin at 1 p.m. with the Syracuse Opera Company and the Buffalo Creek Dancers. Storytellers Gretchen Murray Sepik and Almeta Whitis will also appear in the theatre while the PanLoco Steel Band and the BossTones Old Time Fiddlers take the stage in the College Forum. The festival concludes with Heirloom Celtic Band performing in the Stuart Steiner Theatre.

A performance schedule will be available at the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce office on Main Street in Batavia as well as in the Lobby at the Genesee Center of the Arts, located on the Batavia Campus of Genesee Community College. For information on the Festival, call 345-6814.
