Burns receives Disaster Relief Ribbon

Lieutenant Colonel Robert H. Burns CAP, United States Air Force Auxiliary, was awarded the Disaster Relief Ribbon With "V" Device in recognition of outstanding assistance to our nation following the events of September 11, 2001. The award was presented to Burns by Colonel Richard A. Greenhut CAP, Northeast Region Commander, and Colonel Austyn W. Granville CAP, New York Wing Commander on May 4, 2002.

Burns participated in a statewide communication network that helped get information, personnel, and supplies to where they were needed most after the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001.

Lieutenant Colonel Burns has been a volunteer in the Civil Air Patrol, United States Air Force Auxiliary for 14 years. He has served with distinction for the last five years on New York Wing Staff as Assistant Director of Communications, Communications Training Officer, and Licensing Officer. During his 14 years of service, Burns has also served as Commander of the Batavia Composite Squadron and as a staff member of the Rochester Composite Squadron.

He and his wife Barbara live in Chili. Burns works as a Senior Software Engineer at Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics. They have three grown sons, two of which are also serving in the military.
