New physician specialist joins staff

Richard C. Dobson, MD, Physiatrist, is a physician who specializes in Physical Medicine/Rehabilitation, and has joined Lakeside Health System with full medical privileges. Dr. Dobson is board certified and will admit and follow the care of rehabilitation patients during their stay in the Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services Program at the Lakeside Beikirch Care Center.

This will be important to people whose primary physician has chosen not to apply for admitting privileges at Lakeside, but would prefer to use the Lakeside program, according to hospital representatives. Dr. Dobson will follow the care of their patients and then will refer them back to the care of their primary physician when their patient is discharged.

He is formerly the director of the Rehabilitation Department at Medina Memorial Hospital and is a clinical instructor at the University of Rochester, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Donna Elsenheimer, RN, MS, CNS, CRRN, is a nurse specialist in Rehabilitation and the new Rehabilitation Care Coordinator. She comes to Lakeside from the Erie County Medical Center where she was the Unit Manager of Rehabilitation Medicine. Elsenheimer will coordinate the Comprehensive Rehabilitation Service and Restorative Nursing Program.

Elsenheimer has two years of experience in this area of nursing and has been a Registered Nurse since 1987. Elsenheimer has previously worked with Dr. Dobson at Medina Memorial Hospital where she was the Nurse Manager of the 15-bed Acute Comprehensive Medical Rehabilitation Unit. She was also instrumental in the formation of Lakeside's rehabilitation program.
