Correction

Joyce Henry of the Oak Orchard Power Squadron advised of this correction to an article on boating safety classes which ran in the June 10 issues of Suburban News and Hamlin-Clarkson Herald. The statement "To obtain an Operator's Certificate a person must complete a Boating Safety Course sponsored by a Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla" is incorrect.

To obtain an Operator's Certificate a person may also take state certified boating courses from many state law enforcement agencies and The United States Power Squadron.

The NYS Park Police offers a state certified course as does the Orleans Marine Deputy's department.

For information on Deputy Jim Halstead's classes contact him at e-mail address bj141@rocheter.rr.com

For information on USPS courses, contact Dan Schuth at e-mail address damas.Schuth@att.net or phone 682-4523 in Orleans County, or go online to "usps.org" for the nearest squadron.
