Brockport Blue Devils' baseball coach Brian Jones was named Section Five and Monroe County Division I Coach of the Year after leading his team to a 20-4 record this season.

"It’s the coach of the team that comes out of nowhere that usually wins the award," said Jones. "We had a very young team last season and finished under .500 and this year we were seeded first in the sectionals. It’s the kids who ultimately win this award for their coach."

Jones wrapped up his 12th season at the helm of the Blue Devils, taking them to the sectional semi-finals before losing to Fairport 5-3.

Brockport also took six of the sixteen spots on the All-Star First Team. Catcher Phil St. Amant, shortstop Andy Parrino and first baseman Casey Balog were among the eight infielders, senior Pat McCarthy was one of three outfielders named and seniors Sean Wahl and Nate Wasson were on the five-man pitching team named. Second baseman Jeremy Murray was also named to the second team. "I believe that’s the most players from one team in one year—at least in my time," said Jones.
