Smith receives Excellence in Nursing Leadership Award

Char Smith (left) received the 2002 Excellence in Nursing Leadership Award for Strong Health: Highland Division, where she is director of education. The award was presented by Cindy Becker, (right), vice president, Strong Health: Highland Division. She was citied for her ongoing commitment to education, professional development and dedicated leadership. Smith, a graduate of Highland Hospital's School of Nursing, earned a bachelor's degree in nursing at Nazareth College, a master's degree in education at the SUNY College at Brockport, a master's degree in nursing at the SUNY University of Buffalo, and is a women's health nurse practitioner. Certified in nursing staff development and continuing education, she is enrolled in the doctoral program for nursing at the University of Buffalo. Her research focus is in the use of web-based training in nursing staff development. Smith has had several professional publications and is co-author of the text, Conversations in E-Learning for Nursing, which is in publication. Smith resides in Clarkson with husband, Todd, and daughters, Jillian and Erica.
