Coca-Cola® may soon be pouring into Brockport

Coca-Cola® may soon have exclusive "pouring rights" in the Village of Brockport, Mayor Josephine Matela said.

"We are just in the infant stages of discussions with the Coca-Cola® representatives," she said. "We’re gathering information and analyzing a contract to offer them exclusive pouring rights in the village."

The pouring rights could also encompass surrounding municipalities and other not-for-profit organizations, she explained. This opportunity would help the village fund canal improvements and generate income for other partners that sign on. Matela said many neighboring communities and several school districts have signed exclusive rights with soft drink companies. "This could be an amazing opportunity for our community," she said.

In addition to cola, the village would also take advantage of Coca Cola’s other products like Frutopia® and Dasani® waters.

The amount of money the rights could generate has not been determined yet, Matela said. "We get a percent of what is sold," she said.

The village hopes to have the contracts in place by September 1, Matela said.
