Run/Walk to benefit United Way

The 2nd Annual United Way 5k/3.1 mile run/walk to benefit the United Way of Eastern Orleans County will take place on Saturday, August 24 beginning at 8 a.m. at the Orleans County Marine Park at the intersection of Route 98 and the Lake Ontario Parkway at Point Breeze and will be run on a scenic route along Ontario Lake.

Overall men/women winners will be awarded in age groups of 10 and under, 11 to 13, 14 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69 and 70 and over. A cash award will be given to each first man/woman runner in and door prizes will be handed out with an awards ceremony following the race.

There is a pre-entry fee of $12 while entry fee on the day of the race will be $15. The first 15 entries into the event will receive a free T-shirt.

The race will be USATF sanctioned as the course will be marked, monitored and traffic controlled along with a finish clock at the finish line. There will also be water stations along the race route with food, fruit and drink supplied at the finish line.

All pre-registrations must be called-in or postmarked prior to August 19. Other interested participants can register on August 24 beginning at 7 a.m.
