Volunteers demonstrated that there is strength in numbers during the July 13 weekend when twenty volunteers working in three shifts built the soon-to-be utilized vending building at Parma Town Park. The structure lo-cated between the tennis courts and the Skate Park measures 24 foot by 28 foot, has a hip roof design, concrete floor, and is surrounded with chain link fence sides. During the next two weeks, vending companies will be installing eight vending machines that will handle a wide variety of products. Construction coordinator, Patrick Smith of Patrick Smith Contractors, designed the structure and was on site throughout the weekend instructing the work crews. The Parma Town Board approved the pro-ject in May; however, poor weather and soft ground prohibited the Parma Highway Department from excavating the area until mid-June. In addition to the volunteer labor, the cost associated with this vending building came from pouring rights, the vending companies, and a Town Recreation Fund designed to finance Park projects. Volunteer workers included members of the Hilton Wrestling Club, the Hilton Raider football organization, local Boy Scouts/Cub Scout leaders.
