Award honors mature adults who make a difference in Monroe County

Monroe County is seeking nominations for the 2002 OASIS Role Model Awards. Established in 1993, the awards honor Rochester area seniors who serve as positive role models for their peers in our community. Winners will be named at the annual OASIS Anniversary celebration in October.

All nominations must be submitted by August 20, and nomination forms can be obtained by calling OASIS at 760-5440. Each year for the last two years, the OASIS Advisory Council has chosen both a man and a woman to receive the Role Model award.

The criteria for the award are:

Persons 55 years of age or older who are residents of Monroe County.

Winners will have been involved in activities that have made a difference and had a positive impact, whether in the lives of individuals or in the Rochester community at large. These contributions may have been made through some group or organization, or by an individual acting on his or her own.

Nominees should not be current volunteers at OASIS or members of the OASIS Advisory Council.
