BOCES 2 announces
new executive principal

Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES appointed Joseph Salemi as executive principal of the WE-MO-CO Career and Technical Education Center. Salemi, who has been principal at the school since 1992, began his new role on July 1.

Salemi's duties include program development and assessment, curriculum instruction, budget development and supervision of staff. "Joe has always been an advocate of BOCES programs and particularly so with our BOCES for the past ten years," said Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Programs Jo Anne Antonacci. "I have every confidence that his leadership will continue to build upon the strengths of the Career and Technical Education Center's foundation."

Prior to coming to BOCES 2, Salemi worked for Questar BOCES as principal and as a teacher at Wayne Finger-Lakes BOCES, where he was also an administrative intern. "Career and Technical Education is truly at a new horizon in its role in preparing students for high school graduation as well as for post secondary education and the workplace," said Salemi. "We are moving toward offering our students the opportunity to earn the new Regents Career and Technical Diploma, increasing our standards of learning and creating opportunities for increased partnerships with all of our educational community. I look forward to being a part of this, in addition to working with and providing leadership to the quality staff of our organization."

Salemi succeeds former Director Gerald Hochreiter, who retired in April. The creation of the executive principal position is part of a reorganization of the Career and Technical Center. According to Antonacci, a search is currently underway for an assistant principal, whom she hopes will be in place by the start of school in September.
