NYS Council on the Arts grants awarded

State Assembly Republican Leader Charles H. Nesbitt (R,C-Albion) announced the award of three grants from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) for a local municipality and a community-based organization.

NYSCA is a state-funding agency that provides support for the activities of not-for-profit arts and cultural organizations across the State and assists in bringing high-quality artistic programs to all New Yorkers.

The grant awards were as follows:

Town of Clarkson: $5,000 Architecture Planning and Design Grant for planning studies;

Genesee-Orleans Regional Arts Council: $8,000 Decentralization Grant for a regrant program; and

Genesee-Orleans Regional Arts Council: $33,500 Folk Arts Grant for regional and county folk arts programs.

On July 24, NYSCA approved a total of $9,327,848 during its first round of grants slated for the 2002-03 fiscal year. NYSCA is slated to take action pertaining to two additional cycles of grant recommendations later this year.
