Chili Fire Department receives $75,000

Asemblymember Susan John (D-Rochester, Chili, Wheatland) recently announced $75,000 to assist the Chili Fire Department in funding its Apparatus Exhaust Project.

"Currently, the Chili Fire Department's firehouses are in dire need of an adequate full exhaust capture system that would filter the air to protect staff and volunteers from the carcinogens in diesel exhaust," said John. "This funding will assist the Department with installing an exhaust capture system at the main firehouse and creating a safe work environment."

The Chili Fire Department, which extends coverage to over 10,000 homes in Chili, houses more than 175 staff and volunteers that provide the community with fire and ambulance services. "Clean air is vital to ensuring the well being of these invaluable volunteers and staff who devote countless hours of their time to protecting the community they serve," said John.

"We are very excited about Assemblymember John's assistance in securing these funds," said Chili Fire Department Chief William Arnold. "Our volunteers and EMS staff work very hard to ensure the safety of Chili residents. This funding will help us to provide the Chili Fire Department with a healthy work environment that will allow our workers to continue doing the work they do."
