RPO opening night celebration

The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra kicks off the 2002-2003 season with an Opening Night Celebration at 8 p.m. Saturday, September 28, in the Eastman Theatre. Music Director Christopher Seaman will conduct and violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg is guest soloist for this performance. Concert tickets are $20-$50, available from the RPO Box Office and all Wegmans Video Departments.

"The first concert of the season is something the entire orchestra eagerly anticipates," says Seaman. "It is an important and joyful evening for us, and we sense that it is very special for everyone in the audience as well. We're also lucky to be hearing two wonderful violin concertos - a real treat for everyone."

The program features Salerno-Sonnenberg in two concertos - Bach's Violin Concerto No. 1 and Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto. A performance of Respighi's Pines of Rome brings the evening to a conclusion.
