to perform at SUNY Brockport

Brockport Student Government has announced that Adam Ferrara and Aries Spears, two of America's young comedians, will perform in the Tuttle North Gymnasium on Saturday, October 5 at 9 p.m., on the campus of SUNY Brockport, during Homecoming/Family Weekend.

Born in Queens and raised in Huntington, Long Island, Adam Ferrara is a favorite in comedy clubs, festivals and sitcoms, and he has earned a name for himself as one of today's leading comedic talents, according to event organizers. His popularity has been validated with two American Comedy Award nominations for the Best Stand-up and two "Comedy Central Presents" specials. The next project planned is a sitcom for Comedy Central titled "Jesus and the Gang." It follows the lives of Jesus and his four roommates. The show premieres in January of 2003. Ferrara currently can be seen on the ABC series "The Job," where he co-stars opposite Dennis Leary. Ferrara plays Tommy Manetti, a young detective whose frequent clashes with McNeil (Leary) fuel the show.

Aries Spears was born in Chicago, Illinois. He has appeared on "Def Comedy Jam" and "Showtime at the Apollo." Spears also had roles in the movies "Out-of-Sync," "Jerry Maguire," "Why Do Fools Fall in Love," and "The Pest." As a principal cast member on Fox's hit sketch comedy show MAD TV, Aries brings a fresh, hip style to the already edgy show going into its fifth season. The producers have made full use of many of Aries' talents by calling on him frequently to create new hilarious characters and write sketches, say representatives of Brockport Student Government. Aries also boasts a number of impersonations on the show that include James Brown, Al Pacino, and his childhood idol Eddie Murphy.

Kenneth "Tiny" Glover, a SUNY Brockport alumnus and popular local comedian, will host the show.

Ticket prices for the event are $5 for SUNY Brockport students, $10 for SUNY Brockport faculty, staff and alumni, and $15 for the general public. Tickets are available at the BSG Box Office and through Ticketmaster. For further information call the BSG Box Office at 585-395-2487.
