New Ogden Town
Historian appointed

At the Ogden Town Board meeting of September 11, Ogden Supervisor Gay Lenhard appointed Carol Coburn, a 30-year Ogden resident, to the position of Ogden Town Historian.

Coburn comes to this position with a wealth of administrative and management experience, having retired as the Executive Director of Prevention Partners, Inc. a year ago, Lenhard said. Her community involvement includes working with various groups related to youth and prevention of chemical abuse. She is active in the First Congregational Church and on the Ogden Senior Center Advisory Board.

Lenhard indicated that this appointment is an exciting opportunity of the Town of Ogden. The new town historian plans to work with the Ogden Historical Society, the Western Monroe Genealogical Society, the Ogden Historical Committee and all residents interested in preserving the historical heritage of our community. She also plans to seek grants in order to provide historical programs, historical displays and historical markers for significant properties in the Town of Ogden.

Carol has indicated that she will be looking for additional ideas from Ogden residents. She plans to be available to the public in her office at the Ogden Community Center every Wednesday. She may be reached at 352-3444, or by e-mail at historian@ogdenny.com, at any time.
