Child Advocacy Center to be created in Rochester

According to Assemblymember Susan John (D-Rochester, Chili, Wheatland) $150,000 will be allocated from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services to create a Child Advocacy Center in Rochester. John said she secured the funding in the 2002-03 state budget.

"Rochester is the largest upstate community that currently does not have a Child Advocacy Center," said John. "Given the high number of child sexual abuse cases locally, it is essential that a CAC by developed to provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art services to victims and their families."

The $150,000 will be used to create a CAC that will be housed at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children/NY Branch at 275 Lake Avenue in Rochester. Major renovations will be made to the building along with medical equipment necessary for evaluating children suspected of abuse.
