Catlin scores in Holley loss

Senior Renee Catlin scored the only goal of the game for Holley as they lost to Attica 2-1 September 16 at home.

The Devils took a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute on a shot from the top of the box and the Hawks followed with a flurry late in the first half but could not convert.

Holley started the second half with an offensive push with a long shot on net two minutes in. In the 46th minute, Courtney Gaylord dribbled around a defender but put her shot wide and in the 49th minute, Lauren Logsdon put a long shot high over the right post and Gaylord put a shot on goal that was stopped.

After surviving the Hawks attack, Attica took a 2-0 lead chipping in a ball off a scramble in front. Catlin then cut the lead to one with her goal off a free kick that bounced over the keeper’s head and into the net.

The Hawks had two more scoring chances late with Stephany Roberts putting a shot on net in the 69th minute and Lindsay Gaylord hitting the outside of the post off a give-and-go on a corner kick.

"They’re a division up from us, so this wasn’t that disappointing," said Holley head coach Scott Lutz. "We have struggled in the first fifteen minutes of just about every game we’ve played this year, so you could say we’re a second half team. Our record (2-4-1) doesn’t reflect how well the girls have played - most of our losses have been by one goal - we just need to be ready as soon as the game starts."
