•Bower, Homer H., August 18, 2002, at age 81, in Inverness, Florida. Predeceased by his wife, Onolee Bower. He is survived by his children, Randy Bower, Duggann (Dennis) Eustance; brothers, Harvey Bower, Al (Lois) Bower; sister, Phyllis (Jack) Curtis; grandchildren, Darren Eustance, William Bower, Elizabeth, Jasmin Bower; great-granddaughter, Taylor; several nieces and nephew. Homer was a WWII veteran in the U.S. Navy.

Graveside Service was held September 28 at the Parma Union Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Hospice of Citus County, 3350 West Audubon Park Path, Lecanto, Florida 34461.


•DeForest, Nancy L. (Carey), of Caledonia, formerly of Spencerport. Tuesday, September 17, 2002 at age 68. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Lawrence G. DeForest; eight sisters; five brothers; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services and Interment took place in Pennsylvania. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in her memory.


•Jenkins, Ruth (Haslip), on September 19, 2002. Predeceased by husband, Ward F.; Survived by step-son and daughter-in-law, Ward E. and Annette; cousin, Beverly (Fran) McKinney; step-granddaughter, Andrea. Member of Etolian Chapter #308 O.E.S.

A Funeral Service was held September 24 at Arndt Funeral Home, Greece. Private interment Fairfield Cemetery, Spencerport.


BROCKPORT

•Hanks, Paul B. Jr., September 17, 2002. Predeceased by his parents, Laura and Paul Sr. and brother, Robert. Paul is survived by his dear companion, Mary Sardou; his sons, Brad and Steven (Debbie); daughter, Barb Hopkins; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Christine and Matthew Hopkins, Karyn, Laura and Kelly Hanks; one great-granddaughter, Jennifer Jayne; his sisters, Janet (John) Strauss and Virginia Boyce; sister-in-law, Isabel Hanks; nieces and nephews. Paul was a veteran of World War II and a long-time attorney in the Village of Brockport and a New York State Assemblyman from 1953 to 1967.

A Memorial Service was held September 21 at Fowler Funeral Home Inc., Brockport. Interment Lake View Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Lakeside Foundation in his memory.


•Rayburn, Fred L., September 25, 2002. He is predeceased by his father, Andrew J. Rayburn Sr. Survived by his loving mother, Alice; brothers, Andrew (Norma), Robert (Betty) of California; sister, Jean (Fred) Love; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, October 3 at 7 p.m. at the Clarkson Community Church, 8339 West Ridge Road, Brockport. Contributions can be made to the Clarkson Community Church or to your local Humane Society in his memory.


•Terboss, Donald "Disco Don," On September 25, 2002 at the age of 68. He is survived by many dear friends in the community of Brockport.

A Memorial Service was held September 30 at Fowler Funeral Home Inc., Brockport. Interment private. Donations can be made to the charity of one's choice in his memory.


HILTON

•Coyle, Hugh G., September 24, 2002, surrounded by his caring family. He was predeceased by his wife Sophie, November 2001 and his grandson Todd Coyle, 1980. He is survived by his son, Tom (Barbara) Coyle; his daughter, Carolyn (Gordon) Gotts; his sister, Mildred McDonald; his grandchildren, Wanda (Jim) Fitzpatrick, Lisa (Robert) Whitman, Kevin Gotts, Tim Coyle, Michele (Stuart) Schwartz and Wendy (David) Osterhoudt; great-grandchildren, Jim, Ashley, Patrick, Carly, Alison, Rachel, Joshua and Emily; many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was a Graflex/Singer Inc., retiree, 1974.

Funeral Services were held September 28 at Paul Lutheran Church. Interment Parma Union Cemetery. Memorials can be made to St. Paul New Sanctuary Fund in his memory.

•Babcock, Annette S., Age 44, September 25, 2002. Survived by husband of 19 years, Stephen; son, Zachary; daughter, Maribeth; brothers, Jeff (Kathia) Shaffer, Harry Shaffer, Michael (Charlene) Shaffer, Patrick (MaryAnne) Shaffer, Brian (Ann) Shaffer; sisters, MaryAnne (Richard) Rood, Ruth Shaffer, Irene Shaffer, Karen Shaffer, Holly (Roy) McDaniel, Rebecca (Bob) Dyson; her mother, Jane Gowers; brothers and sisters-in-law, Linda and Jeff Klips, Jim and Linda Babcock, Nancy and Clayton Eckerd, Mark and Lisa Babcock; her in-laws, Patricia and Jim Scibetta, Frank and Mickey Babcock; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was said September 28 at St. Joseph's Church, Albion. Interment at convenience of the family. Memorials can be made to Hospice of Orleans County or the American Cancer Society.


KENDALL

•Murray, Catherine "Katy," September 17, 2002 at age 34 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Survived by her parents, F. Gilbert and Patricia Murray; brothers, Kevin (Dawn) Murray, Kenneth Murray; sisters, Christine (Jack) Bolton, Karen (Neil) Witoff, Carol (Rob) Fagan; 14 nieces and nephews; many aunts and uncles; and many special friends.

Katy was a graduate of Brockport High School (1987), also attended GCC for Sign Language. She was a Special Olympic Athlete in basketball, volleyball, field hockey, swimming, track and field, and won many blue ribbons. She was president of the Self Advocacy with L.A.I. She initiated the Tae Kwon Do Program for L.A.I. She earned her purple belt and was the class leader. Katy was a baseball, football fan, and a Doug Flutie fan. During her lifetime, Katy enjoyed camping, softball, bicycling, travel and the Lifetime Assistance Recreation Group.

Her Funeral Mass was held September 21 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Hamlin. Interment, Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Lifetime Assistance Program or Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Strong Memorial Hospital.


SPENCERPORT

•Griffith, Marian C. Beachner, September 18, 2002 after a brief illness. She was the widow of Harvey R. Beachner and Thomas B. Griffith. Born in Rochester to Robert and Jean Crinean, she was a graduate of West High School '38 and Rochester Business Institute. She worked as a department secretary at Eastman Kodak Company and was the first woman keypunch instructor at IBM. In 1943, Marian married Harvey Beachner and moved to Spencerport, her home for over 40 years, prior to moving to Lake Placid, Florida. After Harvey's death in 1955, Marian became the deputy village clerk for the Village of Spencerport, retiring in 1965. Upon the death of her husband of 34 years, Thomas, in 1999, she moved to Connecticut from Florida to be near her daughter, Kathi Beachner McDonnell, son-in-law, Stephen and their daughters, Kristin and Ashley.

She was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Spencerport Volunteer Fire Department, Board of Voters, and American Cancer Society. She loved to bowl and golf. Marian was a loving, devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed being with people. She is also survived by her sister, Anne C. Simpson, of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; three nieces and two nephews; her step-daughters, Penelope Griffith Groell, husband Ray, of Waterport, NY and Martinez, Georgia and Laurie Griffith Thousand, husband, Gary, of Rochester and their families. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert. Burial was at the convenience of the family.
