Two crossbars and numerous saves by both goalkeepers were the difference as rivals Kendall and Byron-Bergen played to a 0-0 tie in boy’s soccer September 19.

After a scoreless first half, each team had their chances to score with Kendall coming the closest. The Eagles hit the crossbar twice within eleven minutes, the second by Donald Williams. Then, with 26 minutes left in the match, the Eagles' Caleb Hennekey picked up a loose ball in the box, but shot wide.

Later in the second half, the Bees Bobby Williams tried to head in a pass in the box but missed wide and Kendall’s Wesley Marchand took a direct kick from just above the box with six minutes left, which was stopped by goalkeeper Rob Fuller. In the final seconds, Byron-Bergen’s Williams took a long, low shot, which was gathered up by Kendall goalkeeper Richard Williams at the buzzer.

"We had trouble with their athleticism," said Bees head coach Scott Faro. "They (Kendall) kept controlling the midfield and beating us to the ball. We really didn’t get it into our striker - didn’t make the final pass though we put some pressure. But we can take the shutout and build on it." Kendall coach Gary Pollock added, "This is not a bad result for us especially coming off our last game. We played much better moving the ball and stringing together some passes. We moved some more experienced people into the center midfield area and Wes Marchant did a great job all game marking their striker."

Fuller made 14 saves in net for the Bees in picking up his fourth shutout of the season while Williams stopped nine shots in also getting his fourth shutout. Kendall is now 4-1-2 in league action, 1-1-2 overall while Byron-Bergen is 5-1-1, 3-0-1.
