Train to be rolling through Brockport

The cries of "all aboard" will be heard ringing throughout the village of Brockport when the Niagara/Western New York Railroad begins conducting tours that will bring visitors from Albion and Lockport to the downtown area.

Economic Development Coordinator R. Scott Winner announced at the October 7 board meeting that plans have been finalized for two separate weekends of train rides. The trains will run 90-minute excursions from Albion to Brockport the weekend of October 19. An 88-mile trek will be offered the weekend of November 17, he said, and will run from Lockport to Brockport with a two-hour layover in the village. "We’re coordinating events with the village merchants to welcome the visitors," Winner said. "There are also plans for a Santa train ride in the works."

Between 350-700 people are expected to participate in the excursions. Information about the train rides can be found at www.niagaratrain.com or in the village offices.
