starts season with new conductor

The Brockport Symphony Orchestra announces a new conductor and a new season. Ryan Brown has been named as the Director of Music for the Brockport Symphony Orchestra's 2002-2003 concert season, which begins with its fall concert on November 10 at the United Methodist Church in Brockport.

"The Orchestra is very excited to be working with Ryan," said John Centrone, president of the Brockport Symphony Association. "He has already proved to be a valuable addition to the Symphony and we are lucky to have him."

Before receiving a master of arts degree in choral conducting from the Eastman School of Music, Brown graduated with honors from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California, receiving both a bachelor of arts degree in orchestral conducting and a bachelor of science degree in mathematics. In addition to directing the Brockport Symphony Orchestra, Brown currently also serves as the Director of Houghton College's Chapel Choir and Women's Choir, Music Director of the Cathedral Choir School of Rochester's Performance Choir and Training Choir, and Director of the Christ View United Methodist Church's Children's Choir and Handbell Choir. Brown has also conducted for the All American Boys Chorus, the Eastman Repertory Singers and the LMU Chamber Orchestra.

The Symphony is always seeking new musicians. Anyone interested in a position with the orchestra is encouraged to call (585) 234-4296 or e-mail Ryan Brown at rbrown1123@yahoo.com or John Centrone at jacentrone@hotmail.com.
