Graham nets two for Rangers

It was definitely Sweet Sixteen for sophomore Tom Graham as he scored two first half goals on his birthday to lead Spencerport to a 2-0 win over Hilton October 15.

"On the first one, Chris Farnsworth crossed it from the right side and I headed it over the goalie. Brian Anderson crossed a pass on the second one into the box and I kicked it over the goalie who was diving on the play," said Graham after the game.

The Cadets put some offensive pressure on in the second half with David Chojnowski knocking a shot over the crossbar at the 60-minute mark. The final eight minutes of the game featured scoring chances by both teams started by the Rangers’ Mike Placito heading a ball over the crossbar. Chojnowski was taken down from behind in the box with seven minutes left but knocked the Hilton penalty kick wide. The Rangers' Paul Hunter countered with three minutes left by also hitting a shot off a break over the crossbar and, with two minutes remaining, Hilton’s Jason Orlando took a pass from Dan Reynolds and shot it off the outside of the left post.

It was Senior Night for Hilton with fourteen players seeing their final home game: Jared Miller, Chojnowski, Zachary Cope, Sean McGuire, Toby Dinnesen, Carmen Stagnitta, Craig Rapp, Kevin Burritt, Ricky Grizzanti, Mike Maslyn, Luke Blodgett, Aaron Dobson, Phil Steuer and Mark Steiner.

Hilton fell to 1-13-1 overall while Spencerport raised their record to 8-7-2—good for middle of the pack in the upcoming 16-team Class A sectional playoff field.
