at his retirement

Hilton School District residents will miss the friendly wave and smile from ten-year veteran crossing guard, Bob Trembeth, center, as he retires from the district. Students at the Village Elementary School honored him on October 24 with a retirement cake and celebration organized by the school's Asset Ambassador Club under the direction of Jodi McKain (show behind Trembeth). Superintendent John Cooper wished Trembeth a wonderful retirement saying, "On behalf of 46,000 students and parents over the ten years that you have safely crossed and smiled at, we wish you well in all you do." On hand were Hilton Director of Transportation Fred Paye who commented on his dependability and outstanding memory in recognizing bus drivers. Trembeth comments: "I will enjoy sleeping in and I have lots of work to do." He is a 1943 graduate of West High School and is a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Asiatic Pacific. McKain explained that Asset Ambassadors are students who perform community service. There are 28 Village Elementary School Asset Ambassadors. They filled out an application, wrote an essay on leadership, and had two teacher recommendations to become part of the program.
