Ashley Simms, a Churchville-Chili senior, has placed among the top five percent of more than 115,000 Black Americans who entered the 2003 National Achievement Scholarship Program. He was recognized by High School Principal Susan Salvaggio and Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. Larry Pedersen, and presented with a certificate of merit from the National Achievement Scholarship Program.

The National Achievement Scholarship Program is conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation and honors Black American high school students. Although he will not continue on in this competition, Simms' name is included in a roster of over 3,000 participants being given to about 1,500 U.S. colleges and universities.
