Hamlin ceremony includes lighting The Tree of Names

The Friends of the Hamlin Public Library will sponsor the third annual tree lighting ceremony in the Town of Hamlin on December 7, on the library grounds. Activities will begin at 3:30 p.m. with a story hour in the library. Local talent will participate in a pre-tree lighting program which will begin at 4:30 p.m., culminating in the tree lighting at 5 p.m. A visit from Santa and refreshments will follow.

Everyone is invited to participate in the decorating of Hamlin's Tree of Names by bringing an ornament with their family, business, or organization's name on it to hang on the tree. All donors will be registered.

Children can win the chance to light the tree. Every child, ages 2-14, who attends the ceremony will receive a chance to have their name drawn as the lucky tree lighter. Children receive additional chances in the weeks prior to the ceremony each time they check out a book at the Hamlin Public Library (limit one per child per day).
