Rebecca Nau, daughter of Paul and Diane Nau of Churchville, is a member of the Saint Michael's College Chorale and Chamber Singers, performing with the groups during the 2002-2003 academic year. Nau is a senior French and music major at the liberal arts residential Catholic college, located in Burlington, Vermont. She graduated from Churchville-Chili Senior High School.


The following Syracuse University students were recently inducted into the University's chapter of Golden Key National Honor Society.

Golden Key National Honor Society recognizes and encourages commitment to academic excellence. Membership is by invitation only; students must have a grade point average of at least 3.3 (on a 4.0 scale) and rank in the top 15 percent of the junior or senior class.

•Kristina Visic, North Greece Road, Hilton, a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences.
•Ryan Hickey, Village Walk, Spencerport, a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences.


The winners of Genesee Community College's Second Annual Student Poetry Contest were announced before Thanksgiving. Contest winners read their winning entries at a public reception in their honor on November 18 in the college's Alfred C. O'Connell Library. The O'Connell Library sponsors the annual contest which is open to all Genesee Community College students.

The award for First Place was presented to Linda Parmele of Holley for her poem titled "I Want Time." Parmele is currently studying towards an Early Childhood Teaching Certificate from Genesee. Second prize was awarded to Emily Cody for "A Song About My Life." Cody is a general studies major from Churchville. Third prize was awarded to Joseph R. Mallison, a Theatre Arts major from Lyndonville, for his poem "It's About Time." The Award for Best Collected Works went to General Studies major Joseph Mulley-Zanghi of Irondequoit for "Midnight Worries" and "Fields or Shields."


Cynthia S. Widmer, Ridgeway Avenue, has been named to the dean's list for the fall quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology. Widmer, a third-year student in RIT's B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences, is studying information technology.

The daughter of the late Mary Lou Miller of Spencerport, she is a 1980 graduate of Spencerport High School.


Air Force Airman Christopher G. Costanzo graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

He is the son of Gary and Lynn Costanzo of Overlook Drive, Hilton, and a 2002 graduate of Hilton High School.
