Volunteer nursing program for high school students
Volunteer nursing program for high school students

High school students throughout the Rochester community can learn about a career in nursing by joining Unity Health System's High School Student Volunteer Program.

The program offers high school students a first-hand opportunity to observe the role of registered nurses at Park Ridge Hospital or Unity Health System Living Centers.

High school students ages 15-18 are eligible for the program. Schedules are flexible and the program includes a formal orientation by nursing educators.

"This is an opportunity for students who have an interest in the nursing field to assist nursing staff in patient care duties in a real-life, clinical setting," explains Candace Smith, senior director of patient care services at Park Ridge Hospital.
